Ibiza is the notorious party island that is known for its 24/7 nightlife and incredible beach-side festivals. The Mediterranean’s electronic dance scene is about to take a big hit, because world-renowned British house DJ Carl Cox is going to be resigning from his 15-year residency at Space, one of the hottest clubs in Europe. This announcement was no surprise during his interview with DJ Mag, as last year he mentioned the subject while interviewing with Mixed Mag.
“The thing is, all good things come to an end. It’s common knowledge that the owners of Ushuaia [and Space] want to turn Space into Ushuaia Club,” Cox said to MixMag last year. “Whether it’s a good or bad thing, I don’t want to be a part of it. It’s got nothing to do with me. If I re-contract myself to do Ushuaia Club at Space, potentially, what do I do? What would they want me to do? Either carry on doing what I’ve been doing for 15 years or wise up to what the future holds.”
Cox continued, “You know what, if I’m there for the next two years, I’ll have been there for 15 years and I think I’ll have represented dance music at the highest level among anyone I know. I’d be quite happy to walk away from it [after that] and do something else.”
More recently, Cox said, “Next year will be my last year at Space Ibiza, so please do not miss a single night if you can, very special line-ups for 15 weeks. Watch this space…”
Next summer will unfortunately be his last at Space, but new doors and opportunities will open up for this superstar. Carl Cox is currently touring Europe, but hopefully we will be seeing more of this dance music OG in the states. Carl Cox has hosted several stages and events through out the years and will continue to please dance fans globally. Stay tuned for more updates about this international electronic dance music legend.
