When it comes to posting pictures and selfies, Instagram is the supreme ruler. Good luck trying to find an app with better filters for the pictures of your food. With all of this praise, you would think that Instagram couldn’t get any better than it already is – well surprise it got better, users can now share their favorite music with an app called Sounds.
Sounds was created by a French startup company that aims to bring music to platforms that until recently did not allow such content. The app is available on both IOS and Android. It works by letting users discover music, and if they like what they find, share it to various social media outlets such as Instagram, Snapchat, Tinder and more.
The app is reliant on Instagram’s addition of “videos,” which it uses to convert music into short video clips. Though there has been some backlash for previous startups that depended on pre-existing platforms, Sounds is doing tremendously well as there is nothing like it available on the market.
“Unlike other apps, we only use the cover art when you share a song. That’s why our users share a lot more often. We don’t use music as a way to showcase user-generated content.” -CEO Rhai Goburdhun
Though Sounds allows for music to be exported to multiple platforms, data has shown that the primary volume of users use it for their Instagram accounts. Sounds is currently working with various labels and brands to expand their license music catalog, currently the posted music has the imprinted watermark.
Partners with Sounds include Ed Banger Records, Bromance Records, and The Fader.
“We signed a partnership with The Fader for example. When professionals share something, they don’t have a watermark. In exchange, we ask them for some feedback. So far, we have 3,000 artists and labels using Sounds.” -Rhai Goburdhun
The application is still young, but with time it will certainly flourish Instagram into a leading platform to share music on, for fans and artists. Check below for an example of Sounds and click here to download the app!
