One of the strongest bass talents in the scene right now, Dion Timmer has started 2016 in style with his incredible “Plug Me In” EP, which is out now through Rottun. We headed Behind The Bass with the man himself to hear more.
Well done on getting your EP out there. How does it feel to have solo material out there finally?
Thank you, it’s great getting my sound out there finally.
How would you describe the sound of “Plug Me In”?
A mix between 90’s rave, neon lights and aggressive robot noises.
Which of the tracks have got the best response?
Probably “Africa” and “Plug Me In”. People have been waiting for “Africa” for a while after its debut in Excision’s Shambhala mix.
You got a collab with Excision on there. What is like working with him and Rottun as a label?
We’re really close, it just feels natural working with him. We constantly mess around in the studio when I’m at his house and we can basically finish a tune in a day together.
Will you be working with Rottun Records again in future?
Of course! I’m close to all the people working at Rottun so I don’t really see why I wouldn’t.
Tell us your 3 favourite tracks right now…
That would probably be Excision – “Paradox”, Getter & Ghastly – “666” and G Jones – “Fuck What You Heard”.
