Lollapalooza 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the festival in Grant Park, Chicago, and it’s shaping up to be the festival of the year. Not only are they expanding for the first time from a three-day event to a four-day affair, but their lineup this year is arguably the greatest one to date.
Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and LCD Soundsystem are each set to headline a night, with Lana Del Rey and J. Cole also listed as headliners.
This will be Radiohead’s second year headlining at Lolla. They previously performed in 2008 behind In Rainbows and made history as what was widely known as Lollapalooza’s greatest set of all time. The band is expected to release their ninth studio album just before playing in Chicago this summer.
Meanwhile, Red Hot Chili Peppers will be headlining Lollapalooza 2016 for a record-breaking fourth time. They are also set to release a new album before the festival date hits.
LCD has appeared at Lolla before in 2007, but this will be their first headlining gig at the festival. The appearance is part of their reunion tour happening this year, and the group is set to headline Coachella, Bonnaroo, and several other major fests. Frontman James Murphy has promised fans that new music is in the works.
