Over the weekend, MTV hosted their annual Video Music Awards at Madison Square Garden in NYC and the show was nothing less than spectacular. Between performances from Beyoncé, G-Eazy/Britney Spears, and The Chainsmokers, the VMAs were definitely a night to remember.

The Chainsmokers took the stage with “Closer” vocalist Halsey and it got really intense. As the songstress came out to billowing clouds of smoke, things continued to heat up from there. Drew Taggart of the Chainsmokers joined her in vocals for a live version of Closer, and fans couldn’t get enough.

The performance featuring Halsey and The Chainsmokers falls just one week after the collaboration between the artists hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 and also on the Hot Electronic Dance Songs charts.

“We came out of New York so it’s a big deal. It’s cool, we’ve never really been a part of this whole ‘pop culture scene’ and to be here, performing our song when it’s No. 1 in the world and on Billboard is a big deal for us.” – Drew Taggart, The Chainsmokers
