For Tomorrowland‘s 10-year anniversary back in 2014, the Belgian festival took place over two consecutive weekends. Both weekends still sold out as usual and each installment seemingly went off without a hitch.Much to our delight, the festival is apparently planning for another round of two weekends in 2017, following government approval.
A Belgian news source reports:
It all hung for a while in the air, but the organization of Tomorrowland has now officially asked the question to organize the festival over two weekends from 2017 in the domain De Schorre in Boom. The municipalities of Boom and Rumst have the light already put up green and the organization – pending a final approval – already started with the preparation of a double thirteenth edition on 21, 22 and July 23 and 28, 29 and 30th July.
“The twelfth edition of Tomorrowland was one to frame”, the organization of Tomorrowland begins in a press release. “180,000 happy faces from all over the world enjoyed three days of music, sun and Belgian hospitality.”
It is already looking forward to Tomorrowland 2017 and the organization has therefore referred the question to organize the festival over two weekends from next year. “So we can meet the huge demand for tickets from fans and from the neighborhood meet. Meanwhile, we got good news from the municipalities of Boom and Rumst and we can start preparing to organize the festival again two weekends from next summer. “
The preparation of all permits for two festival weekends, practically is the same as preparing for one weekend. “We fill step by step all the imposed conditions. In the coming weeks we so often sit around the table with all the authorities and security agencies concerned. “
Concrete will take place the first weekend of 21, 22 and 23 July, following 28, 29 and 30 July would take place the second weekend.
Fewer events at De Schorre
For provincial domain De Schorre, where the festival takes place, there will be some compensatory measures. “The most important action is the introduction of a maximum number of days for major events. The number of major events is being put on a strict maximum of seventeen days per year, the six festival days of Tomorrowland included. In addition, a better distribution of the type of events. ” (Translated to English)
Tomorrowland will take place July 21-23 and July 28-30, 2017–as long as all goes according to plan. Stay tuned for more information.
