Aphex Twin, born Richard D. James, is known today as one of the most creative minds in dance music. He styles in unique soundscapes like IDM and Acid Techno, and his talent has eluded US audiences for nearly a decade since the bulk of his works precede 2010, when dance music made its resurgence in the US.
Now, he’s returning to us across the pond once more to play Houston’s Day for Night festival in December! Since breaking an extensive hiatus in 2014 with the cryptic release of his album Syro, James has slowly but surely returned to the spotlight.
Festival organizers say this will be James’ first time performing in the United States since his Coachella set in 2008. “We can indeed confirm Aphex Twin is performing at Day for Night,” festival producer Omar Afra tells Billboard Dance. “This is the second moon landing for Houston.”
Aphex Twin also shared a rather cryptic teaser for Day for Night via Twitter.

The artist also just put out the new, critically acclaimed EP ‘Cheetah’ this past July. This year is shaping up to be a massive revival for Aphex Twin, and the killer lineup for Day for Night is looking to put Houston at the top of the festival map!
