In this day and age of technology, if you have access to a computer, you have access to a potential music career. And for all you aspiring musicians out there, Joel Zimmerman aka deadmau5 wants to help you achieve your goals. MasterClass, an education platform, announced today that deadmau5 will be joining its roster to teach a class in “Electronic Music Production.”

If you’re reading this blog, chances are you don’t need an introduction to the mau5. However, just in case you forgot, deadmau5 is a six-time Grammy nominee and has sold millions of records, including his platinum certified “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff,” “The Veldt,” and “Faxing Berlin.” For many of us, having a producer of this caliber who is virtually inviting you into his home studio to teach you how to make music would be a dream come true. Today, those dreams could become a reality.

Deadmau5 emphasizes that this is a no-bullshit class. Instead of focusing on purchasing millions of dollars worth of gear, he’s going to show his students how to focus on the music by manipulating sounds and mixing melodies (his specialties). The way I see it, you are essentially buying a key to unlock deadmau5’s brain, a priceless commodity that would be beneficial to any producer out there, regardless of genre.

It’s no secret that deadmau5 loves to let his voice be heard within the EDM community. To be fair, more often than not, it’s to beef with other DJs on the internet. His actions have left him with a bit of a sour reputation for some, while others choose to completely ignore his Twitter rants and focus on his music. This time around, it’s awesome to see that Joel is spreading positivity through knowledge with this class. No matter what your opinion on deadmau5 is, you can’t deny that when it comes to making music, he is simply one of the best, and the opportunity to have him teach you his techniques is invaluable.

Joel will join the already insane roster of teachers that MasterClass has to offer. Besides his electronic music production class, you can take classes in acting with Kevin Spacey, singing with Christina Aguilera, tennis with Serena Williams, and filmmaking with Werner Herzog (just to name a few). Pre-enrollment opens for deadmau5’s class today for a modest fee of $90. Be sure to nail down your spot before it’s too late!
