Philip Anschutz, the owner of Anschutz Entertainment Group, has been put under a lot of heat recently due to allegations that he supports anti-LGBTQ hate groups.
Coachella Music and Arts Festival, one of the most hyped up and beloved festivals in America, is owned by Goldenvoice. Goldenvoice is owned and operated by Anchutz’s company, AEG. The festival welcomes creatives, free-spirits and diversity, which is why these allegations arose and came to a shock to all fan-goers.
The news came to the surface in June, but after the release of the Coachella lineup, articles began to recirculate.
Anschutz denies the claims and has responded in a statement to Rolling Stone:
““I unequivocally support the rights of all people without regard to sexual orientation. Neither I nor the Anschutz Foundation fund any organization with the purpose or expectation that it would finance anti-LGBTQ initiatives, and when it has come to my attention or the attention of the Anschutz Foundation that certain organizations either the Foundation or I have funded have been supporting such causes, we have immediately ceased all contributions to such groups.”
