Sanjoy is making sure that his music stands out from the rest. The Bengali-American DJ and producer was influenced to create dance track with the inspiration from his Indian background and his love for music.
With some of his bigger influences coming from Afrojack, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Disclosure and Bollywood composer A.R. Rahman, we can definitely hear the different sounds of these artists in Sanjoy’s tracks. The 25-year-old has released popular dance track such as “Don’t Funk With Me” featuring Benny Dayal, “Completed Me” featuring Aditi Singh Sharma, and recently released one of his most popular summer hits, “Slip Away” featuring Trevor Holmes.
“I grew up listening to his records a lot,” said Sanjoy about Rahman, but admitted that he “loves everyone’s music. Honestly, I’m there listening to music all the time. And I’m a DJ too so I have to listen to different music.”
Now, Sanjoy kicks off 2017 with a hot new track, “Obvi” featuring former “American Idol” contestant, Elliott Yamin. This is the first track that Sanjoy released for Sony Music / RAL, who he signed with recently.
Yamin kicks off the track with his soulful vocals gliding across soft piano chords and far-off wailing deep in the distance. Unique percussive sounds build up the energy towards the drop, where warm, undulating bass greets all ears alongside the lead riff, comprised of distorted vox snippets arranged in masterful fashion. “Obvi” oozes with a Californian sunshine feel-good vibe along with Sanjoy’s lush, Bollywood-influenced productions.
