Lowly Palace releases yet another stunning original. Rory Garton-Smith, better known by his stage name Elk Road, is an Australian artist/producer from Perth. Elk Road’s gift lies in creating poignant, emotional tracks that envelop you in a soundscape of dark ambient rhythms. This is his first entirely solo work, and it’s insanely addictive.
“Come Down” begins light and icy, Garton-Smith’s voice high and pure like the breath of winter. Elk Road invites you to rest a while from running in circles, to just “come down” and be, while the whirling synths and building dance beat blind you from your troubles. This track meets that masterful balance between infectiously fun and heartfelt. “Come Down” is definitely my new favorite driving around, windows rolled down song.
