Over the past couple of days, something legendary has happened. Dr. Bronner, the man behind the top-selling natural brand of soap in North America, has claimed that he will annually donate $1 million for the next 5 years to the non-profit Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, also known as MAPS.

Dr. Bronner’s overall $5 million is just a small piece of the $25 million budget for MAPS to ensure that MDMA becomes an FDA-approved medicine, that will assist in psychotherapy for people with PTSD.

“MAPS intends to use the income generated from selling MDMA once it’s an FDA-approved medicine to train therapists and set up treatment clinics around the world,” says founder and Executive Director of MAPS, Rick Doblin.

Together, Doblin and Bronner claim “Our larger goal is to see psychedelic medicine responsibly integrated into American and global culture, readily available to those who need it most, while helping the rest of us open our hearts and minds to each other and to the miraculous living world we live within.”
