With the full lineup recently being released for Austin City Limits Music Festival, also known as ACL, it’s time to decide which artists to see. If you’re going to go to ACL for one reason, it should be that Gorillaz is performing. Having just released their first album in more than six years, and announcing its accompanying tour, Gorillaz are back and better than ever. Check out the official audio of “Andromeda,, one of the tracks off their new album, Humanz, and get excited for Gorillaz’ performance at ACL this year.
Run The Jewels
For those who are looking for something a little more along the lines of hip-hop and rap, Run The Jewels is the answer. Labeled as “conscious hip-hop,” Run The Jewels blends mindful and sensible messages regarding important issues, such as racism and inequality, with hip-hop. Overlay this with the witty banter that occurs between El-P and Killer Mike on stage, and you’ve got a highly entertaining performance.
Louis The Child
If you haven’t heard of Louis The Child yet, you’re missing out. Composed of 20-year old Robert “Robby” Hauldren and 19-year old Frederic “Freddy” Kennett, Louis The Child is the fresh and cool pair that you’ve been waiting for. Since the release of their single “It’s Strange,” Louis the Child has been a rising duo in the EDM scene, performing at major music festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza, and opening for artists such as Porter Robinson & Madeon and The Chainsmokers. Check out the official video for “It’s Strange” and don’t forget to catch them at ACL this year.
The first time I saw Big Wild was when I stumbled upon his performance at Euphoria 2016. He was utterly amazing and gave me all of the uplifting music and positive vibes that I could possibly want. The following times I’ve seen him, which were at Decadence 2016 and BUKU 2017, he did the same, and for that, I am so excited to see him again at ACL.
Hailing from Austin, Texas, ACL’s home, The Bishops are composed of three insanely talented siblings. Consisting of producer/DJ Troy, rapper Luv, and vocalist Cara, each sibling brings something different to the table, resulting in a highly dynamic and unique trio. Take note of them, because they’ve started their come-up, and you’re not going to want to miss their ACL performance.
Austin City Limits will occur from October 6th to 8th and 13th to 15th at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. Tickets are available now.
