I had to pick my jaw up off the floor after watching this video for the first time. Odds are, you will too.

Camila Cabello is far from what I was expecting. With a track titled “Crying in the Club,” I was imagining something closer to Ke$ha’s “Dancing with Tears in my Eyes,” full of self-pity and (sorry Ke$ha) whiny vocals. What I found instead, when I pressed play, was a gut-wrenching, relatable track with an absolutely breathtaking visual accompaniment. Cabello is a multiplatinum award-winning singer and songwriter, and “Crying in the Club” is the first release from her upcoming debut solo album The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving.

Cabello, hair full of bounce and swinging wildly, dressed to the nines in formal wear, is a fucking force to be reckoned with. She begins the music video with a separate track, a bold move that absolutely paid off. “I Have Questions,” her intro into “Crying in the Club,” features undeniably fierce lyrics that hit you right in the heart: “Why did you leave me here to burn? I’m way too young to be this hurt…Why don’t you care? I gave you all of me…I have questions for you, Number one, tell me who you think you are…” and you’ll just have to watch the video below to hear the rest.

“Crying in the Club” picks up speed from Cabello’s gut-punch of an intro, transforming the video into a visual smorgasbord of lights, passionate dancing, wet hair and formal wear. Jaw on the floor yet? I thought so. Her track is an anthem for every heartbroken girl in every club around the world.

Camila explains the inspiration for her highly-anticipated album:

“’The hurting, The healing, The loving’ is the story of my journey from darkness into light, from a time when I was lost to a time when I found myself again.”

Camila co-wrote each song on the album, collaborating closely with an array of heavy hitters, such as Pharrell, Frank Dukes, Charli XCX, Ryan Tedder, MXM, Diplo, Benny Blanco, Sia, Stargate and more. During an interview with Newsweek, Ryan Tedder recently stated, “She’s not only an incredible singer, but she’s also the most talented young artist I think I’ve worked with in songwriting in the longest time.” Diplo described her as “amazing” and Charli XCX proclaimed, “Honestly I was floored.” Meanwhile, Shawn Mendes sung her praises to the stars, calling Camila “The best female vocalist ever.”

“Crying in the Club” was co-written by Camila and Sia and was produced by Benny Blanco. This track is, without a doubt, going to be one of the hottest songs of the summer. Hear it first here:
