After nearly a year, the wait for new 21 Savage is finally at an end. The multi-platinum-certified rapper just released his full-length major label debut album, ISSA, out now on Epic Records.
21 Savage’s ISSA Album is best described as a trap-gone-slasher body of work with serrated lyrics to match. The 14 tracks of ISSA are real, raw, and bluntly brutal. Matched with Savage’s masterful music production prowess, the tracks become violently catchy. If you want to get your blood pumping, this is the album for you.
21 Savage wanted some eye-catching album art to match his wicked sound, so he called up popular artist Somehoodlum for the animated cover art. In addition, 21 worked with Spotify on an innovative digital experience, including this immersive official website ISSAWEBSITE, which we suggest you access on your cell. The website acts as a meet and greet to 21’s savage soundscape, as well as a convenient portal to some of his swag. Every purchase of any item includes a digital download of ISSA, so if you were already in the market for 21 Savage merch, now’s the time.
The album opener “Famous” sets the relentlessly edgy tone, addictive and in your face right from the get-go. 21 Savage shows off his skills on the board with the next little number “Bank Account,” then dives head-first into some of his largest hooks to date with “Baby Girl” and DJ Mustard-produced “FaceTime.” As for the rest, you’ll have to weigh in on your own, but we’re sure there isn’t a disappointing single in the batch. This album is nothing but pure, unadulterated, back-to-back relentless bangers. Think you can handle it? We dare you to try.
What’s next for 21? He’ll be appearing on Genius for an in-depth interview about ISSA July 12, before hitting up Chicago on August 5 for what is expected to be an insane Lollapalooza performance.
If you can’t get enough, 21 Savage also stars in the “The Year 2100” cartoon series. “WeBuyGold” Parts 1 & 2 are available for viewing via 21’s Instagram.
