The deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history took place just yesterday.
Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old man from Mesquite, Nevada has been suspected of killing over 50 people and wounding over 400 after he opened gunfire on a country musical festival concert Sunday night from his 32nd floor hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Country singer Jason Aldean was performing when he ran off stage mid-song to take cover.
Las Vegas police searched for the suspect until they found Paddock dead in his hotel room. It appears that he killed himself, and there were more than 10 rifles found in the room. Paddock seems to have no history of violence, as Las Vegas police had nothing more than a routine traffic violation on him, according to Kevin McMahill, the department’s undersheriff.
ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack through its propaganda agency and said the shooter “executed the operation in response to calls to target countries of the coalition,” according to NY Post.
