With EDC Vegas now in the books and with what would have been the regularly scheduled festival this upcoming weekend in years past, it’s safe to say it was a good call moving the flagship festival a month earlier. 400,000 attendees, cooler temperatures, good vibes and a stellar lineup accumulated for a monumental and memorable weekend in Las Vegas.
The neonGARDEN stage was especially memorable. Designed to create an open-air nightclub in the heart of the desert, the 28,000 square-foot dance floor generated an intimate space for techno lovers to feel right at home. Hosted by Factory 93 all three nights, Green Velvet, Tiga, Gorgon City, The Black Madonna, Detlef, Mele, Cirez D, Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones, Lauren Lane, Maceo Plex and Loco Dice, who are all at the top of the techno scene, handled their duties to perfection.
Here are the top five techno sets that made a lasting impression and proved techno is, and always will be, here to stay:
The Black Madonna
With a rare appearance in the U.S., this was the highlight of the neonGARDEN all weekend for techno lovers out there. A force to be reckoned with, The Black Madonna crushed it on the decks and got Saturday night into full swing.
After finally being able to catch the Velvet, the anticipation and years of waiting paid off. With his mother present as well as a never-ending smile, Green Velvet is a true genius behind the decks and truly enjoys his work.
This was my third time catching the duo that is Gorgon City and by far my favorite set of theirs that I have seen. They would go on to go b2b with Green Velvet and Detlef Sunday morning for a set that will forever be remembered in EDC history.
A truly exciting artist in techno right now, Detlef has quickly risen through the ranks and seems to just keep getting better and better.
Ever since her set at Desert Hearts in April, I have been completely enamored by Lauren Lane. Her ethereal sets are tailored for every occasion and we wish her the best of luck for many years to come.
