2018 saw Mercer take an interesting turn. The Parisian house mastermind was known for his heavy bass house sound, but he is trying to bring back the retro dancehall vibes with old-school influenced, “French-touched” neo-disco and house releases. To be honest, I love the new Mercer sound even more. It’s chic. It’s refreshing. Its broody energy is infectious.
Joining Mercer this time is the legendary ATFC. He has been making hit after hit through labels like Armada Subjekt and Toolroom. This house music veteran was just named No. 20 House Artist of 2018 by Traxsource.
Arriving via Armada Subjekt, the newest collaboration from them, “Twisted,” is a call to the dance floor. Opening with classic four-on-the-floor beats, this club-focused anthem shows that less is definitely more. The stirring vocal falls on a retro disco melody that drives the momentum until listeners are intoxicated by the jubilant aesthetic of the hook. It is sure to make us dance all night.
