Noiseporn readers may be familiar with Australian producer Leotrix already. In July, he blessed us with a fire exclusive mix featuring monster IDs and all-star collabs. Now, he’s back with his new Hive EP, showing us why he’s the next big thing in bass music.
I may sound like a broken record, but young producers like this prove time and time again that the future of bass and dubstep music is in good hands. Opener “Hive Bounce” serves the title well, making use of mosh-worthy staccato bass that indeed makes you want to bounce along. “Nice One” is the very definition of face-melting, while “Fuck Quiet Carriages” utilizes a heavy vocal sample paired with an equally hard-hitting drop. The final collab with Lanki, “Make Death,” brings a welcome melodic intro before evolving into a robotic, futuristic drop that sounds like it was made by an alien.
For a producer who only debuted in 2017, Leotrix is certainly sounding like a seasoned professional. Sharing stages with the likes of Getter, K?d and Spag Heddy, the support from the community is well-earned and rightly deserved.
